Pisces Fishing Reports
Fishing Reports Date: 3/31/2018
We saw a little bit of everything this week, and even though dorado catches have slowed right down, we experienced all other catches his week; varying from striped marlin to tuna, and from sierra to wahoo, with mako sharks, yellowtail and grouper too.

This week, in good ol’ Pisces' Rebecca fashion, anglers and crew caught the most marlin out of any other boat in the fleet, and I dare to say, all of Cabo San Lucas, with 16 striped marlin caught and released total.

With unbeatable weather conditions and many species to target in diverse areas, this week was a great one! Marlin numbers are strong and fishing has been more consistent, with only two out of 70 boats out this week not catching fish. Again, seeing upwards of 3 striped marlin per boat was not unusual, as well as very nice “smaller game” fish of very decent size, such as red snapper, grouper, yellowtail and wahoo, all upwards of 20 lbs.

Marlin numbers continue to impress this week, with over 60% of boats catching them, as well as two sailfish caught and released. Some boats continue to catch up to 3 or 4 marlin a day, along with some dorado and other small game fish. A few nice yellowtail are included in the small game catches this week, giving us great foreshadowing of the season to come. This week the fishing grounds changed from the last few months, where fishing had been found consistently on the Pacific at Golden Gate. Now fish such as marlin and dorado are being found mostly south close to the 11:50 or East past Punta Gorda. Some fishing still out on the Pacific by Los Arcos and Migrino and of course small game closer to shore in diverse areas.

With weather conditions this week being a bit more difficult, not many boats went out searching for tuna and anglers preferred to place their bets on marlin or stay closer to shore and fish for small game, which has been a lot o fun lately. This strategy paid off well, with the fishing being split pretty evenly between marlin and small game, plus a few dorados scattered through.
