Fishing Reports Date: 7/28/2020
Top Billfish Boat again this week, Pisces 31’ Tracy Ann, which had 11 Marlin total and a impressive 405 lbs Blue Marlin for father and son anglers Sergio and Diego Cortes. They also released a Striped Marlin and landed an impressive Bull Dorado of about 50 lbs! Marlin was our most prevalent catch this week, with 38 releases. A total of 30 tuna caught, averaging between 15 and 45 lbs. And although we only had 3 Dorado caught total, we made them count, with three bulls of 40, 50 and 55 lbs each! Only a few Roosterfish caught to close out our “Other” species category.
Fishing Reports Date: 7/19/2020
This was one of our BEST weeks of fishing since being back in charter after Quarantine! We caught the first 2 Blue Marlin of the Season, one of 300 lbs, the other 175 lbs. Plus, the Striped Marlin fishing picked up some more too! We had 75 Billfish released this week, which was about 30 fish more compared to last week. For Yellowfin Tuna Catches, we had the same percentage of boats land them, but more fish in comparison: 76 Yellowfin Tuna total. There was only 8 Dorado caught, but they made a splash -- Anglers aboard Pisces 31’ Tracy Ann landed a 60 lbs Bull Dorado, and a 25 pounder too. Plus, they released 5 Striped Marlin and 1 Sailfish! Add to that a few Sierra Mackerel and a couple Sharks released for the fleet, and we have had one HOT FISHING WEEK IN CABO.
Fishing Reports Date: 7/12/2020
Good fishing with things picking way up into the weekend. Boats found schools of porpoise but the tuna were hard to land. Still, 30% of boats caught tuna, with a few fish on the bigger size, ranging from 50 to 80 lbs each, and a few captains reporting to have “lost a few big ones” (100 lbs or larger). Boats targeting Billfish averaged from 1 to 3 or even 4 Striped Marlin each, with a total of 44 Marlin released total. Pisces 32’ Bill Collector was our top Billfish boat releasing 10 Striped Marlin in one day, along with 1 Shark Release and a Yellowfin Tuna! We also had some nice Roosterfish, a few Grouper, Yellowtail and even a Spearfish to wrap it up.
Fishing Reports Date: 7/5/2020
Decent fishing this week, even with the port closed two days the boats did well to release 50 Billfish total, which included Striped Marlin and Sailfish (plus we had one or two Blue Marlin that got away). And although the Yellowfin were quite difficult to find this week, with schools moving quickly, we had 40 Tuna for the fleet. Other fish caught this week included Sierra Mackerel, Red Snapper and Jack Crevalle.
