Pisces Fishing Reports
Fishing Reports Date: 4/28/2018
Weather in Cabo has improved this week for fishermen, with winds dying down and only a bit of swell appearing just after midweek. And with 39 out of 41 boats catching fish, it’s been our most successful week fishing this month. Tuna was undoubtedly the most caught fish this week, with 33 out of those 39 boats catching it. It was nice to see a bit more variety as well, with more dorado showing up and even wahoo. Smaller game fish were only caught by those who decided to stay close to shore.

This week of fishing in Cabo was, simply put: fun! With our main catch, yellowfin tuna, found quite far out, at distances upwards of 20 miles off shore on some days, it made for a true offshore fishing experience for anglers. And it was all well worth it, as the tuna have been abounding! Averages of 25 tuna per boat were not unusual this week. Marlin have slowed considerably, but the few persistent marlin hunters have been able to find them. Small game such as sierra, roosterfish, and groupers or triggerfish have also been great fun for those looking to stay closer to shore.

This week, the wind continued to blow closer to shore and more so on the Pacific side, which forced some boats offshore in search of tuna and others for marlin. The marlin numbers are still there, and again still mostly found at Golden Gate, but withering, compared to in previous weeks. There is now a more definite distinction of which fish anglers need to target to ensure they are successful. Small game numbers have gone down, but due greatly to the amount of tuna that have showed up as well as the wind closer in. Over 400 tuna were caught this week, between all Pisces boats.

Tuna was the top catch this week, with those looking for marlin still finding numerous fish as well. Small game catches continue to amaze with many different species caught per boat, but the most impressive catch this week was the Pisces Valerie, which landed one of our rarest finds; a very nice sized Golden Grouper.
