PISCES FISH REPORT
February 4th to February 10th, 2017
Overall catch success rate, all species combined: 85%
Numbers at a glance: Billfish 2%, Tuna 73%, Dorado 2%, other 10%
This week fishing remained mostly on the Pacific side around the San Jaime bank and the Golden Gate spot. Most boats saw yellowfin tuna catches in the double digits, with some even up to 50-60 yellowfin’s per boat (with the smallest released). The tuna caught this week ranged from 10 to up to 30 pounds each. While marlin and dorado catches were much slower, there were numerous inshore game fish species caught; from roosterfish, to sierra mackerel, skipjack and yellowtail.
Top tuna catches of the week went to the Pisces Rebecca captained by Rosendo Gomez, they landed a total of 60 yellowfin tuna ranging from 10-30lbs (smallest fish released). All fish were landed just outside the Golden Gate on cedar plugs and cuchis for a group of anglers from Florida. While the Pisces panga La Gloria caught some nice inshore action, landing seven sierra mackerel and a roosterfish of nearly 20lbs just off of the Pedregal. Proving to our anglers from Dallas, Texas that you don’t have to go out far to or rent a big boat to have some decent action. While the Pisces Andrea caught the only marlin of the week on caballito live bait for a angler from Pella, Iowa. This lone angler also landed four tuna between 15-25lbs.
