Fishing Reports Date: 3/23/2020
This week of fishing showed a great variety of fish caught, with our small game category taking the cake. Sixty-five percent of boats caught fish in this “Other” category, made up mostly by Red Snapper, followed by Roosterfish (which picked up much more compared to last week). Then we had some Triggerfish, a few Jack Crevalle and Sierra Mackerel, Wahoo, and some very nice Yellowtail (close to 50 lbs, caught on Pisces 32’ Bill Collector by female angelrs). There were 190 fish caught in this category with some released. For billfish we only saw about a dozen marlin for the fleet total, but ewe did have an impressive catch on Pisces 31’ Ruthless of a Striped Marlin released that neared the 200 pound mark. Tuna numbers were not high, only about 40, ranging from about 25 to 50 lbs mostly.

We continue to see good catches of Striped Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna and mostly Snapper and Grouper this week, although the quantity of Marlin caught and released did go down. Total number of Marlin caught and released were 43 this week, with only 2 Dorado and 41 Yellowfin tuna. In the “Other” category we pooled mostly small game and bottom fish like Snapper, Grouper, although we also had one or two Roosterfish, Triggerfish, Sheepshead and the like. These added up to 98 fish.

This Week’s fishing in Cabo brought a hot marlin bite that hung around for about three to four days. Catches totaled 137 Billfish this week. The other top producing fish were Sierra Mackerel, with up to 10 - 20 caught per boat along with other small game like red snapper, grouper and sheepshead. There were some small roosterfish caught too, with Pisces 28’ Andrea being one of the top boats for these, with up to 4 caught in one day.
Fishing Reports Date: 2/5/2020
Great fishing again this week in Cabo, which included steady Billfish catches, of up to 6 Marlin released per boat, and still some nice Cow-sized Yellowfin Tuna showing up late in the season. Top Marlin boat, Pisces 35’ Bill Collector 2, went 6 for 8 on Striped Marlin plus an approximate 12 lbs Dorado kept. Total billfish releases for the fleet numbered 72 fish; while Dorado numbered 45 total. We had 256 Tuna caught total for the fleet, respecticing catch limits.
Fishing Reports Date: 1/24/2020
Striped marlin numbers have remained stable this week, with the bite peaking Thursday, on which 48 Marlin were released. A total of 85 Marlin released for the week. Dorado catches numbered 41 for the fleet, a quite noticeable decrease to the past month or so. However, Tuna numbers are still holding strong, with a total of 132 fish. Where we did see a noticeable difference is in other species, mainly our inshore fish like Sierra Mackerel and Roosterfish. Pisces 35’ Valerie was hands down our top inshore producing boat, with 55 fish caught and catch limits respected.

We saw Billfish numbers just about double compared to last week, after Striped Marlin started to pick up over the weekend. Pisces boats released 86 Billfish this week, with only two kept, which did not make it. One of these was a 450 lbs Blue Marlin caught aboard Pisces 60’ Reel Machine. As for Tuna and Dorado, percentages of boats landing them remain the same, although the numbers of fish have lowered slightly. This of course is related to the larger number of billfish caught too. There were 165 Dorado and 236 Tuna caught, respecting catch limits.
Fishing Reports Date: 1/14/2020
Good fishing continues in Cabo, with Dorado and Tuna being the most productive fish still. Total Dorado numbers hit 234 fish, with many of those released to respect catch limits, and Tuna 386. However, we did see Billfish pick up coming into the weekend, almost solely Striped Marlin. We had a total of 56 Marlin caught and released.

Close to 100% catch success rate this week once again, with Dorado being the top producing species. Pisces 28’ Andrea had a great day this Saturday with 14 Dorado caught by 9:30 AM (respecting catch limits with releases). Tuna fishing remains good, with average fish ranging from 20 to 50 lbs, and others over 100 lbs. Billfish have been a little trickier to find, but those that have found them, have been releasing mostly Striped Marlin between 100 and 160 lbs each, but Pisces 35' Bill Collector 2 released a beautiful 400 lbs Blue Marlin too!
Fishing Reports Date: 12/29/2019
Again, an impressive week of fishing in Cabo! Eighty-three out of eighty-six boats caught fish, making for 97% catch success rate of all species combined. Largest numbers of fish caught were once again Dorado, with a staggering 394 caught (many of those released, respecting catch limits). For Tuna there were 148 caught by all boats, including an impressive 238 lbs Yellowfin aboard Pisces 40’ Chasin Tail. Marlin were up from last week, where around 10% of boats caught them, to 35% this week. Total Marlin catches were of 48 fish, all released, which included a 200 lbs Blue Marlin on Pisces 31’ Rebecca. Other species caught included Sierra Mackerel, Wahoo and a few Roosterfish.

Another truly amazing week of fishing in Cabo. We had an incredible catch success rate of 100%! All sixty-nine boats out caught fish, and in good numbers. The dorado fishing produced the most, with 280 fish caught (of course respecting catch limits). Tuna was also extremely productive, and included fish from 150 to 215 lbs! Add in to that some decent wahoo, Sierra mackerel and rooster fish and there you have it!
